Where will we find our
next light? The next board that makes up the bridge that spans the
chasm of the perpetual now and then, right and wrong between you and
me?
There is a gap in the bridge.
Ms. Rosa Parks has departed, transitioning to another existence. She
fulfilled the dichotic role, as many women of rosined skin have of
past; she sat and stood for something, paving the way, bridging the
gap, making a difference.
Sister Coretta Scott King stood and rose to pinnacles of joy, only
envisioned by some, as she joined Dr. King, her dreamer. She was
then inexplicably thrust to depths unfathomable. She rose to stand
again, not silently, not alone, shining, pressing, pushing, as a
generation sang, marched, believed and realized change.
There is a gap in the bridge.
My beautiful sisters and brothers, who will speak for us, "All God's
Chilun'? Who will declare our "Not To Us" and who will proclaim our
agenda? We must choose.
A Melodic voice, gentle of spirit, resolved in faith, steadfast in
the fight, a body laid to rest, Coretta Scott King-
There is indeed a gap in bridge.
African American women are challenged, duty bound to stretch, reach
and fill spots left open, by those who have accomplished before
them. There is a gap in the bridge; but we believe God will provide,
as He did with a dream, as He had for these women. Good bye Mrs.
Parks, Good bye Mrs. King. |
